How NOT to get Irritated by SIMPLE things?

In our day to day life we encounter numerous situations which irritates us. A person humming irritates us or someone shaking their legs often irritates us. In such situation we always get disturbed and then always blame the other person for irritation. This means the other person actions are stimulating disturbing thoughts in our mind. Which also means the other person is controlling our mind. Hence our mind is a "slave" of external situations and we don't have control on our own mind. We are not master of our own mind. In this very state of mind if we face bigger problem, we get even more irritated. Hence instead of handling the bad situation gracefully we end up creating more problems to ourselves. This kind of habit eventually becomes our Sanskar and becomes our behavior over time. Such mind set would never attain peace and happiness which is our ultimate goal of our life. So what is the solution to this problem. Let's find that out...

First and foremost thing to remember and digest is we are the creator of our thoughts and nobody else can do it. Irritating situations are external to our mind. They cannot create thoughts in our mind. It is me who is creating this thoughts. In order to understand this beautiful thought is to think of a situation in a theater. If a person is talking on a phone, it is going to irritate many people sitting around that person. And each person is going to face different kind of irritation. One person will think of scolding the person, other will think of fighting with him and many others will wish somebody takes the initiative of stopping the person from irritating them. This situation clearly proves that the person talking on phone is not creating thoughts for all other people. It is the person's personal Sanskar creating the thoughts. Hence we always need to remember that we are the one who creates thoughts.

Secondly if we own our mind then we can definitely control it. What we never did was to talk to our mind. It should not be that hard to says simple words to it like "Please calm down. All is well".

Finally when we are master of our mind it becomes easy to control the situation and not get irritated by it. In the theater situation, we would calmly tell the person to switch off the phone. One thing to remember here is not all occasions we would be able to remain calm. Any major situation in life will always create fear in our mind but practicing above mentioned steps will definitely help to handle such situation easily.

Make this a homework in your routine life and see the effect on your Sanskaar. Peace and Happiness is what we need in life and we should remind ourselves daily.

Jai Shri Krishna...
